Visionary Leadership, President Jonathan A. Kaplan

Jonathan A. Kaplan has served as president of Walden University since September 2007. As president, Mr. Kaplan focuses on efforts to attract a diverse population of working professionals to Walden and to provide students with an engaging learning environment. He also works to expand global opportunities for students through Walden’s membership in the Laureate International Universities network.

Prior to joining Walden University, Mr. Kaplan had a distinguished career in government, public policy, and law in Washington, D.C. Mr. Kaplan served in the White House as chief of staff of the National Economic Council and special assistant to the president for economic policy under President Clinton.

Mr. Kaplan serves as a member of the American Council on Education’s Commission on International Initiatives and on the boards of several organizations, including National Hispanic University and Advocates for Children and Youth.

Walden University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association; www.ncahlc.org. The North Central Association is one of the six regional accrediting associations recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The North Central Association is a U.S. membership organization for educational institutions that was created to develop and maintain high standards of academic excellence.
